Our Testing Methodology: How We Review India-First SaaS Tools
At IndiaGent, every tool review is based on hands-on testing, real Indian use cases, and a transparent scoring framework. We don’t accept payment for rankings, and we test every tool the same way – no shortcuts, no bias. Here’s exactly how we work.
How We Test Tools
1. Hands-On Account Setup & Testing
We create real accounts for every tool we review. We don’t rely on marketing materials or screenshots. Our testing team:
- Completes full account signup using Indian payment methods (cards, net banking)
- Tests core features end-to-end: invoice generation, automation, integrations
- Measures response times, API reliability, and error handling
- Documents setup time and learning curve
- Tests integrations with popular Indian tools (Shopify, WooCommerce, Razorpay, Zoho)
2. Real Indian Use Case Testing
We test tools against scenarios that matter to Indian SMBs:
- GST Invoice: Can the tool generate a compliant GST invoice with correct rates? Does it support e-invoicing (IRN generation)?
- WhatsApp Broadcast: For communication tools, can we send a 1000-customer broadcast without account restrictions?
- Hindi Language Test: For customer-facing tools, do they handle Hindi text, numbers, and formatting correctly?
- Multi-Currency Handling: For global tools, does INR pricing work smoothly? Are there hidden conversion fees?
- Payment Gateway Sync: Does it integrate with Razorpay, Cashfree, or local payment systems?
3. Support Quality Assessment
We measure customer support by:
- Submitting test support tickets and recording response times
- Testing support availability (24/5, 9-5, India-based, etc.)
- Evaluating language support (English, Hindi, regional languages)
- Checking if support staff understand Indian business context
India Readiness Score: Our Scoring Framework
We rate every tool on an India Readiness Score (0-10). This measures how well a tool serves Indian SMBs. The score breaks down into 6 criteria, each worth up to 1.67 points:
India Readiness Score Breakdown
| Criterion | Points | What We Evaluate |
| 1. INR Pricing | 1.67 | Is pricing shown in INR? Are there hidden USD conversion fees? Is pricing affordable for Indian SMBs (<₹5000/month)? |
| 2. Indian Payment Methods | 1.67 | Can you pay via UPI, cards, net banking, or bank transfer? Do they accept payments through Indian payment gateways (Razorpay, Cashfree)? |
| 3. Regional Language Support | 1.67 | Does the product support Hindi, Tamil, Bengali, or other Indian languages? Is the interface translated, or just help docs? |
| 4. GST-Compliant Invoicing | 1.67 | Can it generate GST invoices? Does it support e-invoicing (IRN)? Does it handle HSN-SAC codes and correct tax rates? |
| 5. India-Based Support | 1.67 | Is there India-based support? Response time <4 hours? Support available in Hindi? Phone/chat support available? |
| 6. Indian Customer Case Studies | 1.67 | Are there public case studies of Indian customers? Does the tool have a customer base in India with documented results? |
Score Interpretation:
- 9-10: Excellent fit for Indian businesses. Built for or fully adapted to India.
- 7-8.9: Good fit. Works well in India with some limitations (e.g., USD pricing, limited Hindi support).
- 5-6.9: Moderate fit. Works in India but requires workarounds or external tools.
- <5: Poor fit for India. Not recommended unless solving a very specific problem.
Review Update Frequency & Monitoring
Tool landscapes change rapidly. We maintain our reviews through:
- Quarterly Reviews: Every 3 months, we re-test tools for pricing changes, new features, or integration updates.
- Event-Based Updates: When a tool launches a major feature (e.g., e-invoicing support, new language), we test and update immediately.
- Continuous Monitoring: Our team tracks tool pricing, customer feedback, and Indian-specific announcements year-round.
- Reader Feedback: We welcome comments and corrections from users who discover changes we’ve missed.
- Pricing Verification: We verify pricing on the tool’s official website before every review publication. No outdated pricing.
Independence & Transparency
We maintain strict editorial independence:
- No Paid Placements: We never accept payment to include or rank a tool higher. Rankings are based on testing, not sponsorships.
- No Affiliate Bias: If we earn affiliate commissions from any tool, we disclose it clearly and don’t let it influence rankings. (Currently, we have minimal affiliate relationships.)
- Public Methodology: Our scoring framework is published here for full transparency. Any reader can evaluate tools using our same criteria.
- User Feedback Loop: If a tool disputes our review, we re-test and update if warranted. We’re not perfect – we correct errors.
- No Conflict of Interest: IndiaGent is independent. We don’t build competing products or have financial interest in any tool’s success or failure.
FAQ: Our Testing & Ranking Process
How do you get access to tools? Do you ask for free trials or enterprise access?
We pay for tools like everyone else. We create accounts using our own payment methods and funds, so we experience the same onboarding and pricing as you. We don’t ask for special trial periods or discounts. This ensures our reviews reflect the real experience of SMBs paying for tools. If a tool is under NDA for early access, we test it separately and note the testing date.
Do you take affiliate commissions from these tools?
We have minimal affiliate relationships with tools reviewed here. If we do earn a commission from a tool, we disclose it in the review (look for “affiliate disclosure” labels). Commissions never influence our rankings or recommendations – our scoring framework is independent. If you have concerns about bias, email us at support@indiagent.in and we’ll verify our testing and scoring for you.
Can a tool pay you to improve its score or change its ranking?
Absolutely not. We don’t sell rankings or scores. A tool’s score is determined by our testing framework only. If a tool launches new features (e.g., Hindi support, INR pricing), we test them and update the score accordingly – but that’s a natural outcome of improving the product, not a result of payment. If a tool believes our review is inaccurate, we’ll re-test and correct errors, but there’s no “ranking improvement service” available.
